Archives of Medicine, the descriptive list of the speci mens, of which Copies were distributed in the lecture room, and drawings of some of the specimens, have been collected together in the present volume in a complete form.
It is believed that readers will be able to in an hour or two a general notion of the author's views if they will carefully examine the drawings with the aid of the explanation which precedes them, and refer to the general remarks and summary on page 178, as well as the description of the specimens exhibited, which commences on page 1.
The author has spared no labour in trying to make the drawings faithful Copies of the objects. A sketch was first made upon paper, and the size of the several objects carefully measured, next this rough outline was transferred to the wood block, and the drawing finished on the block itself from the object placed in the microscope.
For the skill and accuracy with which his drawings have been engraved, the author is indebted principally to Miss Powell. Figs. 57 to 67 were engraved by Mr. Williams, and Plate IV by Mr. Wragg.
